KN State Govt Intensifies Drainage Clearance In Metropolis

Kano State Government, has continued its environmental sanitation drive for a “conducive atmosphere in the state capital.”

To this end, the State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has entered the third day of the Phase l of drainage Clearance exercise within the eight metropolitan local government areas of Kano state to prevent flooding.

Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Ismail Garba Gwammaja said, the state Commissioner of Environment and Climate Change, Nasiru Sule Garo, monitored the exercise.

Areas visited by the Commissioner who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry includes State road, Obasanjo road, Maiduguri road to Gadar lado flyover.

Others are Darmanawa to Sallari drainage, zoo road to Tukuntawa and Zaria road among other places.

The Commissioner, who expressed satisfaction with the achievement so far recorded, charged the environment workers and the supervisors handling the work to exhibit high sense of professionalism and ensure proper and timely evacuation of all waste and debris brought out from the drainages to prevent the rains washing them back into the drainage.

Garo, also enjoined residents and all other stakeholders to, as a matter of urgency and social responsibility, to complement government’s efforts in that direction by ensuring proper sanitation exercise within their environment.
