Former US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the 2024 presidential election, set for November 5, is “a choice between communism and freedom.”
Speaking in the battleground state of Michigan, where his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, has gained momentum since becoming the Democratic nominee, Trump labeled Harris a “Marxist” and accused her of proposing “communist-style” price controls and free, taxpayer-funded healthcare.
“This election is not a choice between Democrats and Republicans. It’s a choice between communism and freedom,” Trump declared.
Addressing American auto workers, Trump promised to end what he called their “long economic nightmare,” urging voters to support him: “We will defeat comrade Kamala Harris, and we will bring back the American dream—bigger, better, stronger.”
Trump blamed President Joe Biden and Harris for what he described as the “worst inflation in American history,” and argued that workers should be able to afford a comfortable life on a single income.
He outlined his vision of a prosperous middle class that would once again be “the envy of the entire world.”
Trump also criticized Harris for promising strong border security, questioning her commitment by saying, “Where has she been for three and a half years, as we took in 20 million people, many of them horrible criminals?”
Promising economic revitalization, Trump told voters, “We’re going to make America the production capital, manufacturing capital of the world, and it’s going to happen very fast.” — Agencies via SG
