Nigerian Army Emerges Winner Of Armed Forces Games’ Competition In Kaduna

Report from Kaduna State, North West Nigeria says, Nigerian Army has emerged overall winner in the 19 sporting activities organised by the Military in the State.

Our Correspondent reports that 1,600 athletes drawn from the Nigerian Army, Airforce and Navy, participated in the Armed Forces 19 sporting activities which included swimming and various relays.

The Nigerian Army emerged overall winner with 264 points clinching 172 gold, 60 silver and 32 bronze Medals as against the Nigerian Air Force which came second with 187 points while the Nigerian Navy came third with 129 points.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, acknowledged the Athlets for their dedication, determination and sportsmanship adding that the mental well-being of soldiers is crucial especially with the ever changing security challenges.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, who was represented at the occasion, hailed the team spirit and comradeship displayed by the tri-service describing it as germane to the current efforts of the Chief of Defence Staff’s leadership concept in nurturing a professional Armed Forces of Nigeria that is people- centric, capable of meeting its constitutional responsibilities in a Joint and collaborative environment.

The competition preludes the selection of a team that will represent Nigeria at the 2024 African Military games to be hosted by Nigeria.
