NUJ Warns Fake Journalists To Steer Clear Of Kebbi State

Kebbi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), has issued a warning to fake and quack Journalists to stay away from operating in the State.

The State Chairman of the Union, Comrade Garba Muhammad Yaldu, issued the warning at a meeting with Securities and relevant Stakeholders in Birnin-Kebbi, the state capital.

According to Yaldu, the Union was set to sanitize the profession re-emphasising that, its determination was to stop unregistered and unaccredited individuals from intimidating and blackmailing government officials and other citizens for personal gains.

Yaldu said, the union would partner with the security agencies in identifying and prosecuting impostors in the state.

Comrade Yaldu,  added that the union is repositioning the profession by encouraging professional journalism practices among members.

National Vice President, Zone ‘A’ of the union, Comrade Muhammad Tukur Dutsinmari, pledged support to the Kebbi State Council in combating fake and quack Journalists in the state so as to bring sanity in the profession.

He expressed the belief that, taking actions against fake and quack Journalists would protect the reputation of Journalists and maintain the integrity of the profession in the state which has been “basterdized.”
