Report from Akwa Ibom State, South South Nigeria says, a suspected Cultist allegedly terrorizing the public has been arrested.
In a statement, obtained by Nigerian Kicker, Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom State Police Command, DSP Timfon John says, the development follows the drive to flush out criminal elements across the state by the CP Azare.
According to the statement, the suspected Cultist met his Waterloo during a decisive operation in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital.
“Acting on actionable intelligence, operatives of the Command, on 25th January 2025 at about 0950hrs, stormed the residence of Kingsley Effiong Emmanuel, ‘m’, 26, at Nsukara Offot village, Nwaniba Road, Uyo. A thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of a locally made pistol, which the suspect had been using to terrorize innocent members of the public.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspect has been directly involved in disrupting the peace and order of the community and its environs through his criminal activities,” it said.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, while commending the operatives for their gallantry, issued a stern warning to criminal elements.
“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command is not only vigilant but also strategically positioned to track and dismantle any criminal network. Let it be known that Akwa Ibom is not a safe haven for criminals. Those who choose to continue their unlawful activities will be smoked out, apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law,” he warned.
CP Azare, therefore, urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with the Police by providing credible information, assuring them of prompt and decisive action.
