NIJ Matriculates 304 Students For 2024/2025 Academic Session

Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ), Lagos, South West Nigeria, on Wednesday, conducted  matriculation for a total of 304 students admitted for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The Eagle reports that the ceremony took place at the new Kesington Adebutu media resource centre, inside the school premises in Ogba Lagos.

The participants included 127 students for its National Diploma (ND), 82 for Higher National Diploma (HND) and 95 for the Post-graduate Diploma (PGD) programme.

The Provost, Gbenga Adefaye, reminded the new students that “they are in the school not just to receive education but to become good versions of themselves and to make good impacts in the world around them.”

He said such an understanding would make it possible for the school to impact them adequately.

“Our goal is to train and groom disciplined and excellent professionals who will uphold the highest ethical standards in their profession.

“We will equip you to go into the world as professionals cum content producers in our new age of communication technology,” the provost said.

He also promised students access to a variety of enriching experiences, including field trips to media outlets, advertising agencies, and PR firms; industrial training for National Diploma graduates, sports competitions, inter-college events, and workshops.

Adefaye advised the students to see the ceremony as the beginning of their academic journey,  reminding them that they were not just here to earn certificates, but to be prepared to become great leaders and to face challenges coming up in their generation.
