A report from Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, says the State Police Command has recovered Firearm and ammunition at Ukanafun Local Government Area of the state.
The items were recovered after the operatives of the command, who were acting on credible intelligence, raided a hideout of a suspected Cultist at Ikot Efiong village on Thursday the 6th of March.
A statement by the Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, says on sighting the operatives, the hoodlums fled abandoning one locally made pistol and two live cartridges.
It said investigation is ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, said the Command will not relent in its efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
He therefore called for useful information from the public to sustain the peace and security currently enjoyed in Akwa Ibom State.
