Report from Kano State, North West Nigeria says, the State Sharia Commission, in collaboration with the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), has hosted an iftaar ceremony for new Muslim converts in Kano.
A statement by the Commission’s Acting Director Public Enlightenment, Musa A Ibrahim (Bestseller) says, the event, which took place on Sunday, 23rd Ramadan, at the Commission premises, was led by the Acting Chairman, Sheikh Ali Danabba.
Sheikh Danabba expressed his happiness over the success of the event, which was attended by the heads of the board, its members and staff, as well as leaders of the WAMY group and other dignitaries.
According to the statement, the Sharia Commission has declared every 15th of Ramadan as the day to commemorate and hold an iftaar ceremony for new Muslim converts every year.
Representative of the Muslim Youth Foundation of the World, Alh Sanusi, assured the people that the assembly will continue to support the Islamic faith and Muslims worldwide.
Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of the Board, Dr. Sani Ashir, thanked God and called on the wealthy to provide support to the new converts to strengthen their faith.
The Head-General of the Commission, Gwani Hadi, also urged the community to come forward and marry the newly converts, emphasizing the importance of social integration.
One of the new converts, A’isha Suraj, expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome and treatment she received, saying “Indeed, Islam is a beautiful religion.”
