Northwest University, Kano has reportedly engulfed in fire.
The report says, the fire, which occurred on Thursday, consumed seven offices and a corridor on the 8th floor of the nine-story building.
A statement issued by SFS Kabiru Isah Jafar, on behalf of the Public Relations Officer, (PRO), Kano State Fire Service
says, the operatives of the Service responding to an emergency call received at 11:20 AM, mobilized crews from multiple metropolitan fire stations to combat the blaze.
He explained that one Mannir Abdullahi alerted the fire service control room about the incident adding that the fire at the university building, measures approximately 150×100 feet.
He maintained that upon arrival, firefighters found the eighth floor heavily engulfed in flames, with 11 additional offices also sustaining minor fire damage.
According to him, Four jets from fire service vehicles Com 1, Com 1B, Com 4, and Com 17 were deployed to extinguish the fire.
The statement, however said, no casualties were reported, maintaining that Firefighters successfully prevented the fire from spreading further, saving items worth thousands of Naira.
He stated that the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
