Plateau State Ministry of Education Jos, North Central Nigeria, has on Thursday, closed down six foreign schools in Jos metropolis for operating without approval.
Our Correspondent reports that a special task force team, including Permanent Secretary Mrs. Sadiya I. Yero and Director of Quality Assurance Mr. Sabastine John, visited the affected schools found to be operating without approval or registration.
They are:
Kellyfils Institute, Terminus area;
Alpha Idea Center for Languages Initiative, No 4 Ndagi Farouk, Jos;
Evangelical Divine Academy, No. T5 Idika street, Apata Jenta, Jos;
Greenery Training and Services Site (GTS), No. J. K 30 Apata street, Jos;
God’s Love Victory Assured Academy (GLVAA), Akporido street, Apata, Jos;
International School of Foreign Languages and Linguistics, Apata, Jos;
Plateau State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Kachollom Pyam Gang, expressed concern over the establishment of “these illegal foreign learning centers,” questioning how they began operations without approval.
“The State Ministry of Education is responsible for ensuring quality education, and these schools were found to be non-compliant with registration requirements.
“The closure aims to uphold educational standards and protect students’ interests,” he said.
