New Leadership of Jigawa state council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, is set to establish its own online media platform as a source of publicity to improve and sustain the union’s revenue generation derive.
The Union is also to conduct membership revalidation exercise with a view to ensuring only bonifide members are registered online by the National Secretariat of the union.
Our Correspondent reports that the development was contained in a six point communique issued and adopted by the Union during its maiden congress held on 21/08/2025 at the Press centre, Dutse, the Jigawa state capital.
The congress hailed Jigawa state ALGON for its partnership with the State NUJ to organise and conduct capacity building workshops for working Jounalists in
the state especially Information officers and New Media aides to local government chairmen and pledged to sustain the collaboration
The congress also passed a vote of confidence on the union’s new leadership chaired by Comrade Isma’ila Ibrahim Dutse for its tremendous achievements within the short period of coming on board
The members thanked a philantrophist Engineer Sirajo Sabo for sponsoring the general renovation of the dilaplated NUJ Press Centre and recommended him for NUJ Award
The congress noted with appreciation the tremendous achievements of Governor Umar Namadi’s administration to transform Jigawa state through the 12 points Agenda for the present and future generstions
It called on the Ministry for Higher Education to put efforts and secure accreditation for Mass Communication Diploma course in Jigawa State Polytechnic, Dutse.
Furthermore the congress advised the state ministry of information to rehabilitate the Community FM Radio stations for effective and wider information dessimination at the grassroot.
