A Federal Commissioner, representing Northeast in the National Assembly, Honorable Aminu Ibrahim Malle, has called for the reintroduction of Legislative Quarters and the creation of a consultative body of former leaders.
Our Correspondent reports that, Malle who was a two time member of the House of Representatives representating Jalingo/ Yorro Federal Constituency, made the call on Thursday evening at the National Assembly complex, during a consultative visit to the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Malle observed the logistical challenges facing the legislature and urged the Senate President to look into the reacquisition and construction of new National Assembly Legislative Quarters to ensure the safety and proximity of Lawmakers and key personnel to the complex.
Beyond infrastructure, Hon. Malle was vocal regarding the “key two matters” currently facing the Commission: the full operationalization of the Pension Board and the creation of a Council of Former Presiding Officers.
According to Malle, this council would serve as a high-level advisory body, ensuring that the 10th Assembly benefits from the experience of past legislative Heads to navigate complex national issues.
