Halilu Dantiye was sworn-in on Monday by Governor Abba Kabir Yusif at the Government House, Kano, North West Nigeria.
A statement by the Director Special Duties, Kano State Ministry of Information, Sani Abba Yola said the Commissioner addressed the staff assuring them of his commitment to publicize the policies and programmes of the state Government, which is one of the vital role of his Ministry.
Dantiye who solicited the support and cooperation of the staff of the Ministry, charged them to be more committed in discharging their duties.
“I ready to work with working Journalists by providing an enabling environment for the profession to flourish.
“They should embrace the noble ethics of the profession at all times,” he said.
In his address of welcome, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Sani Bashir Yola congratulated the new Commissioner on his appointment and pledged his support and that of the entire staff of the Ministry.
He described the appointment of Dantiye as well deserved considering his vast experience in Journalism.
The new Commissioner, Baba Dantiye is a member of the Prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru Jos.
Baba Halilu Dantiye is an Alumni of Cardiff University, United Kingdom.
