Appoint Women, Persons With Disabilities – WORI Reminds Kebbi Governor

Executive Director of a non-governmental organization, Women Rights Initiative (WORI ) Dr Laiatu Bamaiyi, has reminded Kebbi State Governor to redeem his promise by appointing women and persons with disabilities in his Administration.

Bamaiyi gave the reminder on Wednesday in her Eid-el-Kabir message to Nigerians and the new Administration in Kebbi State, under the leadership of Dr. Nasir Idris.

“Dr. Nasir promised to feature women, persons with disabilities and youth “prominently” in his Administration.

“It is a welcome development and an encouragement to kebbi State women to work with him.

“As women, we have faith in Governor Dr. Nasir Idiris’ Administration because it holds better days for people in the state and the women in particular,” Bamaiyi said.

Bamaiyi said it was against this background that calls for the need to pray to God to keep the new Government in focus and “nothing should disarray the Governor and his team from attaining their vision.”

WORI said that a World Bank report states that “women make up 49 per cent of Nigeria’s population, but have mainly remained underrepresented in the political space throughout the country’s history.”

“If more women are given the opportunity to serve in various Government positions, they will bring hope back to the masses and the society will benefit.

“There cannot be any meaningful development without an all-inclusive Government of women, youths and persons with disabilities,” she said.

On Eid-kabir celebration, Bamaiyi said every true Muslim, especially women, should be grateful to God for the privilege to celebrate the 2023 Eid al-Adha irrespective of the economic challenges and urged the people to use the occasion to pray for the country.
