Kano State Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye says, the current Administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf will revive the policies of previous Government of Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso.
Dantiye revealed this on Friday when he played host to members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Kano/Jigawa Forum, who paid him a congratulatory visit in his office.
The Commissioner emphasised that the people count on the Government and have high hope on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, adding that they cannot let the Governor down.
On the issue of demolition, Dantiye said a commission of enquiry is in place to look into it and explained that no single individual house was demolished.
“We should be orderly and respect institutions in the State,” he said.
While thanking members of the Nigerian Guild of Editors for paying him solidarity visit, the Commissioner said time has come to redirect media institutions in the state towards better and acceptable performance.
He particularly expressed concerns on the broadcast media which he observed are performing below standard.
“They should stop lackadaisical attitude towards their job. If you are above training and not ready to take corrections to improve, you should leave, ” he warned.
Dantiye, therefore, appealed to members of the Guild to help in the training of working Journalists in the state.
Earlier, the Chairman, Nigerian Guild of Editors, Kano/Jigawa Forum, Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule, told the Commissioner that the NGE members were at his office to pledge their support for the success of his duties.
“We are here to wish you well. Having known your pedigree, we were elated at the pronouncement of your appointment as Commissioner of Information.
“We expected it. This group will support you. You have what it takes to deliver, ” he said.
Dr. Sule, therefore, asked the Commissioner to make the difference adding that he was free to assign members of the Kano/Jigawa forum for any responsibility towards achieving his administration objective.
