Wind Of ‘Santii Yam Festival’ Blows In Mumuye In Taraba State

As the people of Mumuye tribe in Taraba State are eagerly awaiting Santii Yam Festival in their community, a Diploma Student in the Department of Broadcast Journalism, NTA Television College, Jos, Abdulmalik Magwe Bello, who is also a native of Mumuye wrote in about the festival which comes up on the 7th of October, 2023.

In three weeks from now the people of Mumuye tribe in Taraba state, North East Nigeria, will be celebrating their annual festival – Santii Yam Festival.

In this festival, the sons and daughters of Mumuye tribe will come together for the celebration.

New yams will be unveiled showing different sizes. There will be dances and bitting of drums to mark the unveiling.

It is an important cultural event that is held annually which features traditional dancing, singing, and drumming, as well as the consumption of yams and other traditional foods.

It is also a time for families and friends to come together to celebrate and socialize.

The Mumuye yam festival is a vibrant and colorful event that showcases the rich culture and traditions of the Mumuye people.

The festival usually attract people from all walks of life.
