Secretary-General, Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI, Prof. Khalid Aliyu Abubakar, has admonished Muslim faithful to embrace the power of apology in their sojourn in life.
Abubakar, who is the Chief Imam, Fiber Jumaat Mosque, Jos, Plateau state, North Central Nigeria, gave the admonition on Friday in a sermon he delivered before leading congregation prayers.
He told the Worshipers that Allah is in love with those who offer apology when they do wrong to others and those who accept apology when they are offended.
The Imam said many marriages have collapsed and relationship destroyed as a result of arrogance and pride borne out psychological rascality which rob people of simple, “I’m sorry.”
Abubakar noted that as simple as it is, “I’m sorry,” most people find it difficult to say it when they offend someone yet, others refuse to accept apology when it is offered adding that it is all due to pride and arrogance.
He observed that spouses hardly apologize to each other rather, prefering divorce to a simple, “I’m sorry” that can rescue the marriage.
“People should remove the garment of pride in them. No matter your social status you should apologize to those you have offended,” he told the worshipers.
Our correspondent reports that when the Islamic scholar asked the congregation to indicate if they have apologized to their wives when they went wrong, only two people raised up their hands in acceptance.
He, therefore, urged the worshipers to change their attitude in the management of their homes, offices and businesses at all levels.
