Noise Pollution: Govt Shuts Popular Bar In Victoria Island

A Popular Vertigo Bar in Victoria Island area of Lagos has been shut down.

Officials of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) shut down the Bar over noise pollution.

This is contained in a statement on LASEPA‘s X handle on Sunday.

The agency said the closure was part of its commitment to combat environmental infractions and uphold the well-being of Lagos residents.

According to the statement, the enforcement followed a thorough assessment by the agency that Vertigo Bar’s activities contributed to noise pollution in the area.

LASEPA said complaints from residents prompted the swift intervention to bring back normalcy and ensure adherence to established environmental standards.

“In its ongoing commitment to combat environmental infractions and uphold the well-being of Lagos residents, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) took decisive action today by shutting down Vertigo Bar, situated in Victoria Island, for noise pollution.

“This enforcement action followed a thorough assessment by LASEPA, revealing that Vertigo Bar’s activities contributed significantly to noise pollution in the area.

“Complaints from residents prompted this swift intervention to bring back normalcy and ensure adherence to established environmental standards.

“This move is to serve as a warning to other establishments across the State that contribute to noise pollution through their operations. It is also important to adhere to the specified noise levels and maintain peaceful coexistence,” the statement reads.
