President, Nigeria Guild of Editors, Mustapha Isa, has stated categorically that inspite of the trend of fake news threatening the society, the members of the NGE are not involved in it.
He stated this today while addressing the delegates at the opening ceremony of the elections.
“We are trained journalists and responsible Gate-keepers,” he said.
On the holding of this year’s convention in Kano, the NGE President expressed gratitude to the Government of Kano State for providing an enabling environment for the hosting of the elections.
Mustapha Isa who is seeking re-election noted that the Covid-19 pandemic had affected media practice negatively, pointing out that this informed the theme of the convention, “Covid-19 Era: Challenges and opportunities.”
