Abba Kabiru Yusuf Sworn-in As Governor Of Kano State

Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party has been sworn in as the Chief Executive of Kano State, North West Nigeria.

He was sworn in at a colourful ceremony by Justice Dije Abdu Aboki at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

Also sworn is the Deputy Governor of the State, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo.

Addressing the people of the state immediately after the swearing in, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf promised to lead the people with utmost sense of justice and transparency.

He said Education will receive his top priority in the administration of the state.

The Governor disclosed that the training of the youths in tertiary Institutions abroad will resume fully while adequate attention will be given to the development of educational institutions at all levels.

In addition free uniforms and feeding of primary school pupils at least once daily will resume.

The Governor also disclosed that the Community Reorientation Committees in all the local government areas will be re-established while the sponsorship of marriage for widows and divorces by the state government will be brought back.

Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf also hinted that agriculture and commerce will receive the state government’s adequate attention to enable the state occupy its rightful place in the scheme of things in the country.

The Governor noted with concern the neglect suffered by the health sector in the country adding that those concern will not be left unpunished. He also spoke of plans to reintroduce the free maternity program for pregnant women in the state.

He decried the wanton destruction of the state civil service characterized by favoritism adding that the situation will be salvaged adequately.

On security, the governor said the state government will support the security agencies to enable them discharge their duties of protecting lives and property effectively.

While calling for the support of the people of the state in the discharge of his duties, he said government will continue to introduce programs and policies for the enhancement of the lives and welfare of the people.

Yusuf said, the five kilometer roads started by the administration of Former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso will be completed.

The swearing in ceremony was witnessed by among others the Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Karaye, Rano and Gaya.
