The Board of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, has banned Will Smith for 10 years, after he slapped Comedian Chris Rock on stage.
In a letter by the President of the Academy, David Rubin and its CEO Dawn Hudson on Friday, Smith is also not permitted to attend any other events held by Hollywood over the next 10 years.
“The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programmes, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the academy Awards,” the letter said.
The Board did not decide to revoke the best actor Oscar Smith won last month for “King Richard.”
Recall that Will Smith struck Chris Rock across the face for making jokes about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith.
