AKTH Discharges Nine Open Heart Surgery Patients

Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano, North West Nigeria, has over the weekend discharged patients who received free open heart surgery in the hospital.

Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Professor Abdulrahaman Abba Sheshe, described the surgery as “very successful.”

Reports from the hospital indicates that only one out of the ten patients who received the surgery could not make it alive.

The Chief Medical Director commended the Muslim World Health League, the Salman Centre for Humanitarian Services Saudi Arabia and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for their support in the success of the exercise.

Professor Abdulrahaman disclosed that the patients were lucky to have received the free open heart surgery as ordinarily it will cost millions of Naira.

Nigerian Kicker gathered that the equipments used for the surgery were donated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company NNPC and the Nigerian Agip Exploration earlier in the year.

A beneficiary of the free open heart surgery, Mallam Umar Muhammad, commended all those who contributed to the success of the surgery.
