Akwa Ibom State Police Command, has bursted a robbery syndicate and recovered arms and stolen items in Ibesikpo Asutan local government area of the state.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, says two suspects Louis Joseph Thomas ‘m’ 23 years and Essien Friday Nelson ‘m’ 27 years were apprehended following a well coordinated operation.
Items recovered from them include four locally made pistols, thirty four live cartridges, a Moniepoint POS machine, two black face masks and two laptops.
Others are three Android phones, a button phone, a wristwatch and a black long sleeve special force polo.
Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, commended the operatives for their swift response and assured the public that efforts are being intensified to track down other fleeing members of the gang.
He pledged the commitment of the command in ensuring the safety of the residents and called on the public to continue to provide timely and credible information that will aid the police in crime prevention.
