Akwa Ibom State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has recovered a locally fabricated firearm and two live cartridges from an intercepted Mercedes Benz C300 with customized plate number FORBES JR.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, says the operation which took place at a control post in Ikot Ekpene, was part of the Command’s intensified stop and search strategy designed to curb crime and enhance public safety.
It was also in line with the Command’s zero tolerance for unlawful possession of firearms.
The vehicle has three male occupants who identified themselves as Nsisong Paul Okon, 27, of Itak village, Ikono local government area, Francis Forbes, 62, of Ikot Akpa Edok Ndiya village, Ikono local government area and Prince Forbes, 27, of Ikot Akpa Edok Ndiya village, Ikono local government area.
The Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, has already ordered a full investigation into the matter.
