Jigawa state Advocacy committee for the revitalization of Almajiri and out of school children has flagged off its statewide campaign in Dutse, Jigawa State capital.
Emir of Dutse Alhaji Muhammad Hamim Nuhu Sanusi, represented by Turakin Dutse, Alhaji Jamilu Basiru Sanusi, launched the flag off ceremony
Speaking at the occasion, Chairman of the state Advocacy Committee, Malam Abdullahi Yunusa said, the campaign was to sensitize, promote public awareness and enlightenment aimed at addressing the challenges towards achieving the goal of the National Commission on Almajiri Tsangaya education and out of school children across the country
He explained that a five-member sub committee has been set up in each of the three senatorial zones of the state comprising of traditional rulers, Ulamas and civil society organisations to drive down the campaign in the zones
Yunusa said according to UNICEF statistics of 2018 , Nigeria has the highest number of out of school Children in the World with more than ten million of such children adding that in every five out of school children globaly one is from Nigeria and most of them from the Northern Nigeria.
In his sperch, Chief Imam of Hadejia, Malam Yusuf Abdulrahman, advised Government to absorb Tsangaya Alarammas in its payroll and give them training on how to manage their
Qur’anic Schools.
Also speaking, Sa’in Dutse, Malam Mahmud Yunus, lamented the alarming rate of out of school children in Jigawa state which “required urgent attention” to address the situation.
