Armed bandits have reportedly attacked Sabuwar Tunga community in Adabka ward, Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, North West Nigeria, on Tuesday, killing 12 vigilante members and abducting four residents.
According to a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X on Wednesday night, the attack began when the gunmen stormed the village but were initially repelled by local vigilantes.
However, as the security volunteers pursued the assailants into the forest, the bandits regrouped and ambushed them.
A security source in the area confirmed the attack, stating, “The community initially repelled them, but unfortunately, the bandits regrouped and ambushed our men, leading to the tragic loss of 12 members.”
The assailants inflicted heavy casualties on the vigilantes before retreating deeper into the forest with their captives.
Security forces have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident. – DP
