Canoe With 40 Passengers Capsizes In Sokoto 

Report from Sokoto state, North West Nigeria says, a Canoe with about forty passengers have capsized on Dundaye river in Wamakko local government area of the state.

According to the report, the victims who are mostly women and children, were on their way to their farms across the river when the accident happened.

An eye witness confirmed that about fifteen victims were rescued by swimmers in the village while about twenty five were still missing as searching is continuing.

Special Adviser to the Sokoto state governor on State Emergency Management Agency, Nasir Garba Kalambaina said, rescue operation team as well as officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, have been mobilized to the village for a rescue operation.

The mishap has been attributed to the over flow of River Dundaye in Wamakko local government area of the state.
