CP Azare Asks Youths In Akwa IbomTo Shun Lawlessness

Youths in Akwa Ibom State, South-South Nigeria have been urged to shun any form of lawlessness for peaceful coexistence in the State.

The  State Commissioner of Police, Baba Mohammed Azare, gave the charge at a crucial meeting with youth leaders from the thirty one local government areas of the state.

CP Azare also warned that jungle justice and road blockades, as a means of protest, will not be condoned adding that such practices is a violation of the law.

He, therefore, appealed to the youths to always provide timely and relevant information to enhance law enforcement operations in the state.

Also speaking, the state’s Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Criminal Investigation Department, Salawudeen Ishiaka, advised the youths to shun cultism and other unlawful activities towards the development of their communities.

The Chairman National Youth Council of Nigeria, Udung Uko Chapter,  Oscar Ita and the Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local government chapter, Comrade Alexander Udo, commended CP Azare of his initiative and pledged to cooperate with the police in the fight against crime.

In a related development, the Akwa Ibom State Police Commissioner also held a meeting with Chief Executive Officers of companies and industries operating in the state to address lingering tensions between the youth and business owners.

He urged them to create opportunities for youth engagement and harmonious working relationship.

Responding on behalf of the business owners, General Manager Seplat Energy Producing Nigeria Limited, Johnson Ogbum, gave an assurance that efforts would be made to engage the youth meaningfully.

A Statement issued by the Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Timfon John, says the engagements by CP Azare were designed to foster peace, strengthen police-commumity relations and discourage unlawful activities among the youths.
