Cross River State Govt Extends Teachers’ Service Year

Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade has extended Teacher’s service year in the State for public primary and secondary Schools.

The extension was contained in a circular number 1/2023 issued on Thursday and signed by the Head of Service, Timothy Akwaji.

The circular said the extension was in consonance with the provision of the Harmonized Retirement Age for Teachers in Nigeria Act, 2022,

“In line with the provision of the Harmonized Retirement Age for Teachers in Nigeria Act, 2022, His Excellency, the Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, has approved the harmonization of retirement age for Teachers in the State Public Service with effect from May 1, 2023.

“Henceforth, Teachers in Primary and Post Primary Schools in Cross River State shall retire on attainment of Sixty-five or forty years of service, whichever comes first,” it said.
