Chief Imam of Zaid Bin Sabit Mosque, Maikalwa Zaria Road, Naibawa Kano, North West Nigeria, Sheikh Bello Bala Usman says, it is not proper for a Muslim to display their sacrificial animals before slaughtering them.
Sheikh Usman gave the advice in a sermon he delivered on Friday before leading congregation prayers.
The Islamic scholar, whose sermon was centred on Eid-kabir Sacrifice, said slaughtering animal during Eid-kabir celebration is a command instituted for the sake of Allah.

“Don’t take photograph of your sacrificial animal, displaying it, sending it to people for them to know how big it is. Don’t exaggerate the amount you bought it to show your financial standing.
“All these amount to showing off. When you do this, you have no blessing from Allah,” he admonished.
Sheikh Usman said those who have the means are enjoined to slaughter Ram, Sheep, Goat or Camel according to their ability saying the sacrificial animals must be matured.

“Avoid Slaughtering a sick animal and the one that is not matured.
“When you are able to slaughter, don’t sell the skin,” he advised.
The Imam said anyone who does these will have no blessing from Allah, adding that the sacrificial animal is meant for you to eat with your family, relatives and friends.

“Don’t be selfish. Remember your relations, neighbours and friends,” he said.
Sheikh Usman prayed for a peaceful celebration of Eid-kabir in the country and across the world.
He also prayed for Leaders in the country for Allah to direct them towards good governance.
