Emir of Gaya in Kano State, North West Nigeria, Alhaji (Dr.) Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya, has turbanned the Vice Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai as the Sarkin Kudun Gaya on Friday.
While performing the official turbanning at a colourful ceremony held at the Emir’s Palace in Gaya town of Kano State, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaya said the appointment of the new Sarkin Kudu was in recognition of his dedication to the service of humanity and respect to the Emirate Council.
“This conferment on you is meant to encourage you to continue with the philanthropic activities you have been doing, especially at this time of economic hardship”, the Emir emphasized.
A statement by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations of ALIKO DANGOTE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, WUDIL, Abdullahi Datti Abdullahi says the Emir also admonished the Sarkin Kudu to be good Ambassador of Gaya Emirate Council and uphold its norms and traditions.
Some of the important dignitaries and well wishers at the occasion include Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by Chief of Staff Government House Dr. Sulaiman Wali, and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso represented by the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports.
Others include Sheikh Ibrahim Khaleel, Chairman Council of Ulama, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Alhaji Muhammad Tajuddeeen Usman, Alhaji Sabiu Bako member of the University Governing Council and Prof. Yusuf Bala Daraja, Vice Chancellor Capital City University.
