Failure Of Governance Bane Of Sports Development – Galadima

A former President of the Nigerian Football Association ( NFA), Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, has identified Psycophancy and failure of governance as bane of sports development in Nigeria.

He was speaking in Kano at a one-day Capacity Building Program organized by the Sports Without Borders Development Association for Sports Writers from Northern Nigeria.

Theme of the program is the “Role of Sports Journalists in Talent Identification.”

Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima said inadequacies in the management of sports has continued to help in retarding the growth of sports in the country.

He, therefore, urged the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) to pressure the state governments into providing sporting facilities.

Galadima explained that lack of sporting facilities is one of the factors responsible for the social vices being perpetrated by the youths, noting that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.

Also speaking, a former President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Mallam Sani Zaria, called for specialization in sports writing to develop sports.

Zaria who was speaking on the Role of Sports Writers in Talent Identification, urged members of the association to do more by identifying talents which are abound everywhere.

A paper on the Role of Sports Journalists in the Contemporary Social order was presented by Dr. Nura Garba.
