First Batch Of Nigerian Returnees Arrived From Sudan

First Batch of about 350 Nigerian Returnees from Sudan have arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja last night on board Air Peace Aircraft.

They were received by the Minister of Humanitarian Services, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouk, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri Erewa, the Ambassador of Sudan to Nigeria as well as officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Nigeria’s Refugee Commission.

Addressing the returnees, Minister of Humanitarian Services, Sadiya Umar Farouk, noted that their experiences while in the Sudan was traumatic.

She, however, expressed gratitude to God for their safe return.

She also said everything possible is being done to reunite them with their families as soon as necessary documentations with the Immigration officials have been completed.

The Minister commended President Muhammad Buhari for his support to the Ministry to ensure the safe return of Nigerians living in the Sudan.

Speaking on behalf of the Returnees, Hajiya Asma’u Mohammed Yerima, thanked the Federal Government for facilitating their return back to Nigeria safely.

Another flight which Nigerian Returnees from Sudan is expected Thursday morning

There are over 5’000 Nigerians in Sudan out of which about two thousand five hundred are students.
