First Roaming Film Festival Begins In Jos, Plateau State

Report from Jos, the Plateau State capital, North Central Nigeria says, a Community based Roaming Film Festival, Jos Community Film festival (JOCOFFEST), has announced its Maiden edition themed: Film – Voice for the Voiceless.

The Festival Director, Prof. Edward Ossai, in a statement obtained by Nigerian Kicker said,
the festival is scheduled to commence on Wednesday 8th November to 10th November 2023, at Lamingo, in Jos, metropolis.

“The tantalizing and epic festival will run simultaneously with a two day junior golf kitty targeted at junior golfers between ages seven and fourteen.

“This year’s edition is designed to discover and empower young men and women with talents, ideas, creative potentials and enthusiasm that address core socio-economic development issues in motion pictures, sports and engage the restive youths positively in a convivial atmosphere,” he said.

Prof. Ossai also said the festival will feature master classes in photographic techniques and script making, film screenings, awards presentations, talks /lectures and lots more. Further more, the festival will attract industry stakeholders, business men and women, filmmakers, opinion leaders and students.

According to him, part of the aims is to open the door for “our teeming youths to discover themselves and launch into the world of economic opportunities, breakthroughs and successes toward enhancing growth and development in the country.”

He explained that the festival is open to all – the young and old, men and women, who have something to showcase in the various categories of the programmes.
