Former Acting Managing Director, NAN, Ibrahim Mammaga Dies

A former Editor-in-Chief and Acting Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Ibrahim Kawu Mammaga, has passed on.

He reportedly died on Thursday afternoon after a brief illness at the age of 62.

Mammaga, who was a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, retired from the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, on the 1st of April, 2020 on the attainment of the mandatory retirement age of 60.

Speaking to Nigerian Kicker, Chairman Kano State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Abbas Ibrahim, described the late Ibrahim Mammaga as a fine gentleman, a professional to the core who has a listening ear.

He said the late Mammaga will be missed by all his colleagues adding that he has left a vacuum which will be difficult to fill.

The deceased has since been buried at the Tarauni Cemetery in Kano metropolis in accordance with Islamic injunctions.

He is survived by a wife and six children.
