Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, North East Nigeria, has ordered the immediate closure of all nightclubs, also known as ‘Gala Houses,’ within the state.
He has also directed all security agencies to ensure strict compliance with the order.
Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Njodi, said the measure followed a series of complaints from the general public on the incessant immoral, criminal activities and security breaches being perpetrated in such nightclubs.
He said that the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Civil Defence Corps and Operation Hattara were, by the order, expected to immediately mobilise their personnel to effect the directive and ensure strict compliance.
The affected Gala Houses include, Jami’a Gidan Wanka, located at Mile 3 Yola Road, Gombe, White House Theatre (Babban Gida) located at New Mile 3 Yola Road, Gombe.
Others are, Gidan Lokaci General Merchant, located at Mile 3 Reservoir Road, Gombe and Farin Gida Entertainment II located at Wuro Karal, Kalshingi Road, Gombe.
