Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabiru Yusuf, has ordered immediate and comprehensive rehabilitation of the state-owned College for French and Chinese Languages.
The directive was issued during an unscheduled visit by the Governor to the college, located in Kwankwaso town of Madobi Local Government Area.
In a statement, on Monday, Kano State Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya says, the Governor’s directive is part of efforts to rejuvenate the education sector through the enhancement of teaching and learning,
Speaking during the visit, the Governor said he was at the school to personally assess the condition of the facilities and the welfare of students and teachers.
He expressed satisfaction with the performance of both the students and staff, particularly the students’ fluency in Chinese and French.
“I’m here on an unscheduled visit to see, firsthand, the living conditions of our students and teachers, as well as to assess the infrastructural state of the school.
“I am very impressed with the students’ performance, especially their fluency in speaking Chinese. However, I am concerned about the deplorable state of the infrastructure,” the Governor said.
The Governor immediately directed the Commissioner for Works to commence the rehabilitation of all buildings and other dilapidated structures within the school premises.
He emphasized that the government will begin the renovation of all existing facilities without delay.
