The Commissioner stated that the 2026 fiscal budget of more than one trillion Naira, was meant to transform the lives of the people, not a budget to support the interest of an individual.
Kano State Commissooner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has reassured the people of the state that, the defection of Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf to the All Progressive Congress, APC, “is in the best interest of unity, peace and progress of Kano state.
Our Correspondent reports that, Waiya stated this while presiding over a one-day roundtable discussions, jointly organised by the Ministry and Nadeem Media Consults for Editors, held in Kano.
Comrade Ibrahim Waiya said the recent politcal development in Kano state has opened a new course of political dispensation in the state and the Nation’s democracy.
He reminded the Editors that, as people who decide what goes in and out in the News room, they have vital role to support and partner with Kano state Government in its efforts to transform the state through execution of development projects.
The Commissioner stated that the 2026 fiscal budget of more than one trillion Naira, was meant to transform the lives of the people, not a budget to support the interest of an individual.
“Kano needs peace. The interest of the state is paramount and bigger than any person no matter how highly placed,” he said.
The commissioner, therefore, assured the Editors that, Kano state government will continue to be press friendly and will wellcome constructive criticism that will be in the best interest of the Government and its people.
In his presentation, Professor Sule Ya’u Sule urged Editors, as Gate Keepers, to ensure that the story to be published or broadcast is in the best interest of the target audience.
Another resouce person Dr Mutari Magaji stressed the need for effective synergy between the Reporter and the Editor in News decision making.
