Governor Zulum Decries State Of Disrepair Of Federal Roads In North East

Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Umara Zulum, has decried the state of disrepair of Federal Government roads in the North East region of Nigeria.

He was speaking Friday at the seventh meeting of the North East Governors’ Forum in Gombe State.

Prof Umara Zulum who doubles as Chairman of the forum said the insecurity in the region which prevented the reconstruction of the roads, has now improved tremendously.

He therefore appealed to the Federal Government and the National Assembly to incorporate in the 2023 Budget the reconstruction and rehabilitation of many of the Federal roads in the region, which have been in deplorable condition for years.

The governor also announced plans by the Governments of the region to establish a commercial airline.

At the end of the meeting, the forum commended the federal government for its effort in combatting insecurity in the region.

The forum also called for the acceleration in the execution of the Mambila Hydroelectric project to boost power supply to the region and enhance economic activities.
