Vice Chancellor of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Prof. Maduebisi Ofo Iwe, has appealed to parents and guardians to assist in training their children.
He made the appeal while cautioning the matriculating students of the university against involvement in cultism and other vices.
Prof. Iwe warned the students not to regard the institution as a society of rascals adding that any student who allow themselves lured into cultism and prostitution would be rusticated.
As he puts it:
“The university has core
values which every staff
and students should adopt
on daily basis.”
The VC, therefore, advised the students to show act of decency and rationality at all times.
Professor Iwe noted that Michael Okpara University of Agriculture matriculated 4,522 students into 11 colleges of the institution made up of 39 departments and observed that the quota of 5,127 for the university by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, was grossly inadequate when compared with the teaming population of candidates seeking admission into the institution.
