Report from Kano State says, four members of the same family have been burnt to death in an early morning fire that engulfed their home at Kundila Layin Baba Impossible in Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State on Wednesday.

Kano State Fire Service, confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its spokesperson, ACFO Saminu Yusif.

Yusif said the fire was reported at about 4:13 a.m. by one of its personnel, HFS Abba Datti.

He explained that, upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found the ground-floor building measuring about 40 by 30 feet and serving as a residence completely engulfed in flames adding that, the blaze destroyed two bedrooms, a parlour, a kitchen, and a toilet.

According to the statement, five people were trapped inside the house when the fire broke out. They included a 43-year-old man, Sodangi; his wife, Rafi’a (30); and their two daughters, three-year-old Mardiya and one-and-a-half-year-old Yusira.

All four were burnt to death.

Yusif further explained that, firefighters were able to rescue a 12-year-old boy, identified as Aminu Sodangi, alive.

The Fire Service extended its condolences to the bereaved family and urged residents to exercise greater caution in handling fire-related materials, especially during the harmattan season.

Preliminary investigation suggests the fire was triggered by a mosquito coil the family had lit in their parlour before going to sleep.
