Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike says, he would increase the number of his recent political appointees to 100,000.
The Governor disclosed this to newsmen on Friday in Port Harcourt, South-South Nigeria.
He explained that the next administration in the State may retain them or do away with the appointees if it cannot meet up with their financial obligations.
The governor defended his decision to appoint more people by saying they are Rivers people.
“The people appointed are they not Rivers people? Will they not be paid salaries?” he asked.
“I can tell you now this morning we met. We are going to increase it to 100,000.
“This is part of what we promised our people. If the next Government come and cannot go with it, it is not tied to continue with it,” he added.
He further explained that the people are appointed to enable them gather information from the unit levels so that the government would know how it is performing.
