Deputy Chief Imam of Fibre Jumaat Mosque, Jos, Sheikh Auwal Danladi, has again admonished believers to repent and abstain from anything that is evil.
He gave the admonition on Friday in a sermon he delivered before leading congregation prayers.
The Deputy Chief Imam, whose sermon dwelt on the importance of Muharam – the first month in the Islamic Calendar, said people should stay away from cheating, blackmail, lies and enmity.
He said repentance is inevitable for the wise before they answer the call of their creator.
“Repair your life with love and good deeds. Don’t cheat. Love your brother and pray fervently and ask Allah for forgiveness. This will make you be a better person in the society.
“If you do an iota of good, you will see it. If you do an iota bad you will equally see it.
“Don’t allow yourself to be enmeshed in evil, thinking nothing will happen to you – that is the moment that Allah will catch you. It will be too late for you then,” he said.
Shaikh Danladi reminded the worshipers that on the last day, there would be no repentance.
He, therefore, urged them to constantly sow good deeds which will be beneficial to them hereafter.
The Imam, however, warned that though doing good is important, but added that they should beware of the people they help because, according to him, it is among those you helped you find the worst enemy.
He advised those who are capable to fast on the 10th of Muharam pointing out the month is very important to a true believer (mumin.)
The Cleric prayed Allah to accept the prayers of Nigerians to solve the present challenges in the land.
