Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Sa’idu Yahya, has congratulated the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude on his elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN and his recent appointment as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
Yahya, who led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Attorney General, explained that the visit was also to introduce the Commission’s leadership to its mother ministry and to seek support for the amendment of the Commission’s laws enacted in 2008 and amended in 2010.
In a statement, obtained by Nigerian Kicker, Special Assistant (Media) to the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Abubakar Tijjani Ibrahim, says, the delegation further sought assistance in capacity building for investigators as well as the deployment of additional staff from the Ministry.
In his remarks, the Attorney General expressed delight at receiving the delegation, describing the Commission as a “vital institution in promoting transparency and accountability in governance.”
“It is indeed my pleasure and honour to welcome this distinguished delegation. The Ministry of Justice remains ever ready to collaborate with the Commission in reviewing and strengthening its laws to enhance its effectiveness.
“On capacity building, the Ministry will engage its serving prosecutors to provide practical training and support for your investigators.
“We will also look into ways of deploying additional staff to assist the Commission in carrying out its important mandate,” he said.
The meeting was attended by the Solicitor General of Kano State, Salisu Tahir, and other Directors from the Ministry of Justice including Ahmad Garba, Director, Administration and General Services.
