According to Online News Nigeria, there are indications that Zainab was abandoned by her royal siblings in Kano, though the reason for her neglect is not clear yet.

Eviction notice was served on them due to unpaid rent.

Reports say, the governor sent his media aide, Sanusi Bature, to Lagos to settle the rent dues.

The amount paid was not disclosed, but Zainab, her mother and brother were saved from the embarrassment that would have come with the eviction that would have occurred on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

Reports also have it that the siblings and their mother had been struggling to make ends meet since the demise of the late Emir, Ado Bayero, and were neglected by the royal family.

It was not clear whether they were included in the sharing of the estate of the late monarch, which was rumoured to be enormous.

Zainab has recently spoken to the media where she revealed their ordeal.

Bature was said to have met with the General Manager of the property in which the family of three are living, Sunel Kumar, and paid their rent.

He was quoted to have said Gov Yusuf’s gesture was prompted by concerns that the situation did not reflect well on the royal family and the  Kano State.

Zainab was quoted to have said “You came at the right time, we were about to be forcefully evicted from the facility for our inability to pay the rent.”

Many  Kano citizens have commented on Zainab’s predicament, wondering why she wasn’t hitherto known and why she was left unattended to by a family that is large enough and has the wherewithal to cater for her.

A certain Muhammadu Mujtaba however revealed that “the royal family is not homogeneously rich at all. Sure, some of them are really rich, but others are enormously poor.

,”We have plenty of them in  Kano who are equally struggling to pay their rents. Some are working in the public service, private companies and as business men. There’s nothing special about being from the royal family, except that they have the hope that they will be emir one day.” – ONN
