Kano State Government is set to partner with Key Investors towards boosting Gold Mining and Trading Activities in the State.
Director Public Enlightenment, in the State Ministry of Solid Mineral and Natural Resources, Adamu Ibrahim Dabo, says in a statement, that the state Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, “is ready to work assiduously with licenced Miners to harness the state endowed natural resources for economic development of both parties.”
According to the statement, the Commissioner, Ministry of Solid Mineral and Natural Resources, Alhaji Safiyanu Hamza Kachako, has already paid a visit to Gold Souk situated at Batakaye, Western Bye Pass, Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner explained that the Gold Souk was built in Kano by the Federal Government in collaboration with the State Government to serve as a center for Gold refining and trading in the northern states.
‘Indeed Kano is strategic and remains a commercial hub of northern states hence the location of the Gold market to provide a conducive atmosphere for the commodity’s stakeholders to mine, refine for local patronage and export to the world market.
“I will visit the Federal Ministry of Solid Mineral Resources, Abuja, to ensure that the multi million Naira Gold souk start operation as all the needed facilities/equipment have been put in place.
” We will leave no stone unturn in reaching out to all stakeholders within and outside the country for collaboration and capacity building to achieve our goals,” he said.
The commissioner, however, expressed dismay over land encroachment he observed at the premises of the Gold Souk and quickly ordered for proper investigation with a view to addressing the development.
