Kano Govt Officials Attend MEF Workshop In Kaduna

Kano state top government officials are currently attending a three-day workshop on the development of medium term expenditure framework (MEF) 2024-2026 in Kaduna, the Kaduna State capital.

Kano State Commissioner for Environment and Climate change, Nasiru Sule Garo, who is among the participants of the workshop told newsmen on the lessons learnt in the workshop and vowed to ensure transparency and accountability in the discharge of his duties.

Garo, who described the workshop as timely, commended governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for approving and taking all the responsibilities involved in the workshop.

He said some of the benefits and objectives of the workshop, are to provide overview of 2023 half year budget performance in terms of revenue and expenditure, understanding the linkage between policy plan, State development plan and annual budget as a tool for poverty reduction and vulnerability among citizens of the state.

Other objectives, according to the Commissioner, include credible and acceptable resource projection that can be used to build 2024 annual budget in line with requirements of public financial management law reforms.

Garo expressed optimism that at the end of the workshop a robust and reliable data that would serve as a guide to the state would be harmonised

A statement by the Director, Public Enlightenment, in the state Ministry of Environment, Ismail Garba Gwammaja said, the Workshop is aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in service.
