Kano Health Workers Need Compulsory COVID-19 Vaccination – CITAD

By Ibrahim Danladi

A Kano based non-governmental organization, Center for Information Technology and Development (CITAD), has called on Kano State Government to compel its health workers to take the COVID-19 vaccine.

Project Manager, Public Education on the COVID-19 vaccine, Hamza Ibrahim, revealed that many practitioners are yet to take the Vaccine.

He said CITAD had monitored closely the issues around COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, slow uptake and its non-acceptance in the state adding that the analyses of the data generated showed that there is the need to draw the attention of stakeholders and advocates to address certain misconceptions about COVID-19 vaccine administration.

Ibrahim said the Centre discovered that many people are reluctant to take the vaccine due to fear of perceived adverse effects, saying that those reasons and several other misconceptions are some of the reasons people abstain from taking it.

He called on government to create a synergy among Health Workers, Physicians and Journalists towards enlightening citizens in Hausa language.

He also advised the government at all levels to treat with utmost seriousness the issue of paying the vaccination officials and the entire healthcare workers and providing them with all support they need to ensure smooth vaccination exercise.
