Kano state Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje says, Kano state remains the most peaceful state in the country.
The Governor stated this while declaring open the 2021 Biennial Convention of the Nigerian Guild of Editors holding in Kano, the Kano state capital.
Ganduje who said he was happy to host the cream of Editors in the state applauded the Gate-keepers for their efforts and advised them to use their positions to help unify the country.
“Nigeria Press is one of the most freest press in the world. What is important is for them to avoid professional misconduct,” he said.
While reminding the Editors to be sensitive to the happenings in the country, the Governor said it was time, more than ever before, for the press to promote peace and harmony among the people.
The Governor also appealed to the Editors to build bridges through constructive criticisms.
He, however, cautioned that freedom of the press must go with responsibility if the ethics of the profession must be upheld.
