Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, (KANSIEC), has adjusted the date for the local government elections by a month.
KANSIEC Chairman, Prof. Sani Lawan Malumfashi, announced the change of the date at a news conference on Friday.
Recall that the commission had scheduled the election for November 30, 2024.
The elections will now take place on October 26, 2024.
He said the decision to shorten the election timeline was made to comply with a Supreme Court ruling that grants local governments financial autonomy.
He added that all preparations by political parties campaigns will start from September 1, and end on 25th October.
